Keep your promises to yourself

How It Works

How to use this site

Register

  • Click Register in the top right of this page.
  • Enter your first name. This is used to make the emails we send sound friendlier. "Hi Fred" is nicer than "Dear Sir / Madam".
  • Enter your email address. This must be a real one that you have access to because we will send you an email as part of the registration process. We do this to stop spammers opening fake accounts.
  • Enter a password. We suggest a strong one with the usual combinations of uppercase, lowercase letters, numbers, specials. To make you even safer, we store the password in encrypted form so even we do not know what your password is.
  • Click submit and we will send you an email. Open the email and click the verification link inside. You will then be taken to a page where you can add a challenge.

Add a goal (optional)

what is a goal?

Let's explain using an example. Imagine you want to run a marathon. At the moment running for the bus is a lot so a marathon seems a seriously big deal. It's too big to do it all at once.

So you might create a goal to run a marathon, but you will need to break that goal down into manageable chunks. Run 5k. Run 10k You get the idea.

So a goal is a big plan. It is made up of pieces we call challenges.

Motivating yourself to do what you said you would can be hard so we really concentrate on getting you to think Why to want this. Getting reminded of Why you want something can really help when your initial enthusiasm has left and the "almost there" adrenalin has not kicked in yet.

Adding a goal is easy.

  • Using the navigation bar in the top right of the screen, click My Goals.
  • Click the button "Add Goal" and go through the wizard.

Add a challenge

A challenge can either be part of a goal or something you will be able to master within 30 days.

Just like with goals, adding a challenge is easy.

  • Using the navigation bar in the top right of the screen, click My Challenges.
  • Click the button "Add Challenge" and go through the wizard.

Some terms you may not have seen before.

Cheat day. Want to keep your promise to yourself but think you will need one day off per week? No problem. Select which day and we will not nag you that day.

"Close Enough" mode. Think back to the last test you sat. Was 99% considered a fail? No, of course not. Want to give yourself a chance by not strict but not 100% strict on yourself? Enter a "Close Enough" number. If you said you must read 20 pages a day, 18 is close enough...

Every day

  • Each day during the challenge, you need to sign in to the site. Signing in will take you directly to the "Today" page.
  • You only have thing to do on this page. Enter your number for today. Then click the "Save" button.

That's it for today.

The number you enter refers to whatever was the relevant number for your challenge. For example, if your challenge was to read more, then you will put in the number of pages you read today.

The site will automatically compare this number against your target and update your stats for you so you can see how well you are doing with your challenge.

You will also get a daily email commenting on that days progress.
